Ohio House Bill 315: New Coverage Requirements in Ohio
Effective April 3, 2025, Ohio House Bill 315 requires insurance carriers to cover:
- Hearing aids (and related services) at no member cost; and
- Primary care physician copays for physcial, occupational, and speech therapies and chiropractic care.
The law applies to all fully insured plans, group plans, MEWAs, and non-federal governmental self-funded public plans (in other words: counties, cities, townships, schools). New Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs) will be issued soon.
These new rules do NOT apply to groups in level-funded or self-funded arrangements (e.g., Aetna Funding Advantage, Roundstone, First Primary Care Plans).
