EMPLOYER NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Have You Notified CMS About Medicare Part D Creditable or Non-Creditable Status of Your Plan(s)?
Employers offering coverage to employees or retirees are required to notify CMS of whether their medical and prescription drug coverage is considered creditable or non-creditable within 60 days of the plan year or 30 days of a change affecting coverage. The notice to CMS is completed by filling out a simple online form.
The online disclosure form takes only minutes to complete. Click here for a link to the CMS Form.
Although this process is to help those who are Medicare eligible, many employer send to all employees to ensure any disabled spouses or dependents are notified too.
For complete information about this requirement, see: Creditable Coverage Disclosure to CMS Guidance (updated June 29, 2009)
